In the presence of Richard Kovitch
Jane Arden, 1972, UK
HD, Color, English, 111'
The only British feature directed by a woman in the seventies. This big claustrophobic film by Jane Arden is the opportunity for an intense reflection around a group of psychotic women in therapy: long and distressing sequences of schizoid episodes are interspersed through the movie, unfolding the frantic and hallucinatory anxieties of the patients. Through them Arden highlights the alienation of the female body, shackled and hindered by social and schizophrenic taboos: inflammatory and subversive.
